Yesterday, I ran the Kasama Run 2019 5 km event with Rishane as my buddy. I woke up at 2:55 in the morning and got ready. At around 3:30 AM, we fetched Rishane and we arrived at the race venue at around 4:00 AM. We warmed up at 4:00 AM for the race with the gun start taking place at 5:15 AM. When the race started, my partner and I was a little behind since the pair of runners in front of us did not start right away. Despite this, we were able to pick up our pace as the route widened. As the race progressed, we were able to overtake other pairs who were ahead of us earlier in the race. When we secured our position, we somewhat relaxed our pace and sprinted again before reaching the finish line. Unfortunately, the route was longer by about 650 m according to my watch so our time was really slow. When we finished the race, we got listed and got our finisher medals which included coupons that gave us free VIP membrship for GNC, a free t-shirt from Walker and a free 4-piece takoyaki serving. After waiting for quite some time, it was finally awarding. The awarding seemed a little bit disorganized since they didn’t give all the prizes right away. For example, the second the third placers got their Perskindol Sprays while we didn’t. We asked to organizers about it and we they told us to wait a bit. Luckily, we eventually got them. While that was happening, we watched the awarding for the all male category and we noticed how they received Soleus watch gift certificates (GC). Since we thought it was unfair, we asked the organizers why it was like that and they gave us the GC’s. Apparently, they forgot to give them. In addition to those we also received a trophy each and GNC products. I noticed that only the Champions of each category received trophies. In my opinion, I think that also the second and third placers should receive trophies, just like the past years. Even though the awarding was a bit messy, at least we got our prizes. What I liked about the race was that they had a lot of photographers and some videographers. Hopefully, next year we will be able to join this race again.
